Not only is this baked maple glazed salmon recipe delicious, but it’s quick and easy too! And to think, this maple mustard glazed salmon is a restaurant-quality meal, but it’s ready in 20 minutes. Maple syrup glazed salmon is both sweet and tangy from the combination of whole grain mustard and maple syrup. It’s an explosion of flavors. I hope you’ll add maple mustard salmon to your weekly menu asap, you won’t regret it!
Salmon is one of my favorite fishes. It’s so fatty and buttery, it holds up well to just about any style of cooking. And depending on the flavors, it can go in so many different directions.
This maple syrup glazed salmon is even better served on top of pillowy sweet potato mash. It’s not the only side dish option, of course, but it’s totally delicious and pairs well with this maple glazed salmon recipe. If you aren’t into potatoes, you could try some roasted vegetables.
How To Make Maple Glazed Salmon
Once you see how to make baked maple glazed salmon once, I’m pretty sure you’ll be hooked. It’s a beautiful meal with very minimal effort. And that is my kind of meal!
- Season the salmon with salt and pepper.
- Make the maple mustard sauce. Simply stir together some mustard and maple syrup, and brush over the salmon. This is what gives maple syrup glazed salmon incredible flavor.
- Sear the salmon on the stove. I like to use coconut oil for searing it, but you could also use avocado oil or another neutral-flavored oil.
TIP: Don’t skip the searing step! It’s what gets us that beautiful crust.
- Bake the salmon in the oven. After a quick sear on the stove, we’ll finish it in the oven to cook through completely.
How Do You Not Overcook Salmon?
It’s pretty easy to overcook maple salmon (or any fish for that matter), so I wanted to give you some tips on how to avoid cooking it too long. Follow these tips, and you will have moist, flavorful maple mustard salmon every time:
- Check the color. It should be just barely opaque, but not totally white.
- Check the center of the salmon to see if it flakes – that means it’s done.
- Keep the skin on the maple mustard glazed salmon. The skin has lots of nutrients and makes the maple mustard glazed salmon crispy, but it also locks in moisture.
- Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the glazed salmon filet. It should reach 145 degrees F, but if you let it rest for 5 minutes, it comes up another 5 degrees, so you can cook it to 140 degrees F instead and let it rest.
Is It Healthy To Eat Salmon?
Yes, of course, it’s healthy to eat salmon! Not only does this baked maple glazed salmon taste amazing, but it’s also loaded with nutrients like potassium, vitamin B12, and selenium. It’s full of protein and healthy omega-3 fatty acids, too.
How Do You Store Maple Mustard Glazed Salmon?
The best way to store leftover maple mustard glazed salmon is by wrapping it with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Then place it in an airtight glass container and place it in the refrigerator. It lasts around 3-4 days in the fridge.
Can You Reheat Cooked Salmon?
Yes, you can reheat this maple salmon recipe. You can either microwave it for 30 seconds at half power or warm it in the oven. When warming the maple glazed salmon in the oven, 275 degrees F for about 10 minutes should do it. Don’t use higher heat – it will turn it from the best salmon ever into a rubbery, chewy disaster.
How To Freeze This Maple Glazed Salmon Recipe
You can freeze this maple glazed salmon recipe by allowing the salmon to cool correctly then placing it in a freezer safe container. Make sure you use an airtight container with a lid or a bag to keep it protected. You can also wrap it in aluminum foil before placing in the container to give it some extra protection against freezer burn.
To thaw baked maple glazed salmon that has been frozen, place it in the fridge the night before. Once thawed, you can reheat it the same way as above.
What To Serve With Maple Syrup Glazed Salmon
Maple syrup glazed salmon tastes great with all kinds of side dishes. Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy baked maple glazed salmon:
- On top of a bed of sweet mashed potatoes like in the photo above. Simply boil the sweet potato until it’s soft, add in some roasted garlic, and coconut milk until it is the desired texture. Add some salt and pepper, and you have a gorgeous side dish!
- Roasted veggies like brussels sprouts or baked roasted radishes make great healthy sides for the best maple salmon recipe.
- Serve baked maple glazed salmon cut up and placed on top of a fresh garden salad. The sweetness of the salmon and the coolness of the lettuce are a perfect pair.

Fantastic recipe~ I have a local mustard that has dill in it , and I used that, plus a pinch of garlic. It was so delicious!! I will be making this weekly! And I made the mashed sweet potato with it. So good!

Salmon can be a little bland so this is such an easy way to give it so much flavor! Love that it turns into a glaze while it bakes.

Loved the combination of mustard and maple syrup. I only had Dijon but it still worked really well. We had it with roasted sweet potato and some greens. So good!

This was wonderful! We eat a lot of salmon, and I’m always looking for a new recipe. I had a pan of bacon grease and used that, and I caramelized onions on the side for another topping. Super yummy!
