Today I’ve got the how to for making homemade chips of all kinds as well as 4 homemade seasoning recipes!
Usually what prompts me to make chips is that I have some type of vegetable, fruit, or potato that doesn’t have a purpose and I want to do something fun with it. Enter chips! Have you ever met anyone that doesn’t like chips? Didn’t think so.
They’re really easy to make and if you follow these guidelines you’ll have a healthy, crunchy snack in no time.

Ingredients

Vegetable Options
- Potato
- Sweet Potato
- Jicama
- Cassava
- Beets
- Carrot
- Taro
- Sunchoke
Fruit Options
- Apple
- Kiwi
- Pear
- Banana
Barbecue
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons chile powder
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Cinnamon Sugar
- 2 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
Ranch
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon dried chives
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Cajun
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

- Preheat oven to 200°.
- Thinly slice the fruit or vegetable. A mandoline works best.
- Toss vegetables with a small amount of olive oil (optional) or simply place on baking sheet lined with parchment in a single layer.
- Sprinkle with desired seasonings (optional).
- Bake 1-2 hours rotating occasionally and flipping once or twice to ensure even cooking. *SEE NOTE
Recipe Notes
How fast the chips become crispy will depend on how thick you cut them and what you’re using. For example, kale cooks a lot quicker than sweet potatoes. For things that have a lot of moisture like bananas you may need an extra hour or so. Just be sure to check on the chips every 30 minutes to gauge their state
Each seasoning mix will yield approximately 1/4 cup
