Today is ALL about this refreshing, tangy, sweet, and superfood packed turmeric limeade that just SCREAMS summer! I’ve been completely enthralled with turmeric lately from stirring some into cauliflower rice, mixing it into my morning tea, using it as a facemask, and finally in this liquid gold.
I’m sure you’ve heard all the benefits of turmeric lately. It’s listed by Google as the hot ingredient of the year and for good reason. Turmeric is such a miracle spice as it contains curcumin which is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It’s been used for thousands of years as a medicinal herb for ailments like bloating, menstrual cramps, bruises, chest pain, and toothaches. You can even apply turmeric as a compress to aid in the relief of pain and inflammation.
According to The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods turmeric’s active compound curcumin has been shown to just as effective as ibuprofen in reducing inflammation without the nasty side effects of ulcer formation, decreased WBC’s, and intestinal bleeding. It also protects the body from free radicals that can lead to cancer. Curcumin has also been shown to slow tumor growth, improve liver detoxification, aid in preventing heart disease (by lowering cholesterol), Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Pretty great huh? Now, of course to reap these benefits you’ll need to make turmeric a daily addition to your diet but trust me when I say it’s SO simple if you’re mindful about it.
This blender turmeric limeade recipe is a tasty way to get those benefits especially when the weather is warm. It’s so simple to whip up too. You literally just toss everything into a blender and let it rip for a good 3-4 minutes, strain out the pulp, and store in a glass container. I used honey as the sweetener but if you need this recipe to be vegan you could use agave, coconut sugar, or even date syrup. Enjoy!

Question – are we blending the entire lime? Should the rind and/or pith be removed? Or just quarter and toss in blender?
Looks fantastic – I have been looking for a turmeric drink recipe! Can’t wait to try.
