What Is Bang Bang Sauce?
Bang bang sauce is a creamy, spicy, subtly sweet sauce traditionally put on shrimp. There are many different recipes for bang bang shrimp sauce, but mine is paleo and gluten-free. You can use it on shrimp, chicken, or even cauliflower!
What Is In Bang Bang Sauce?
There are just 8 ingredients in this easy bang bang sauce. Odds are, you probably already have most of these ingredients in your pantry!
Here are the ingredients you will need to make this paleo bang bang sauce.
- White Wine Vinegar – This gives the spicy bang bang sauce a little zip.
- Garlic – A must for Asian bang bang sauce. Or pretty much any savory recipe, if you ask me. 😉
- Ginger – It wouldn’t be an Asian dish without a little bit of ginger, right?
- Honey – This is where you get the sweetness from. You can use a sugar-free powdered sweetener if you want to avoid it, but it is natural sugar.
- Red Pepper Flakes – If you want to make the sauce a little bit spicer, you can always add a little bit extra red pepper flakes.
- Cayenne Pepper – This pepper gives the sauce a little bit of heat and tastes oh so good!
- Avocado Oil Mayonnaise – I mentioned that this sauce is creamy and it comes from the avocado mayo. Yummy!
- Sriracha – Another complex spicy flavor addition.

I really love the flavor of this sauce but it was way too watery in the sauce pan and never thickened. I could see it needing to be on the thinner side to toss with your shrimp taco recipe but I used it as a topper to pork tacos and added cornstarch to get the perfect consistency. Thanks for sharing though, I will most definitely be using this again and again though! Love it!
