I’ve always loved brunch, especially when this cranberry mimosa recipe is involved. Fluffy banana pancakes with blueberries and mint, smoked salmon toast points, biscuits smothered in honey, and of course, this holiday mimosa – it screams Christmas, doesn’t it? My Christmas mimosa with cranberry juice is not only beautiful to look at, but it’s also sweet, tart, and bubbly at the same time. You definitely need to add this cranberry orange mimosa to your holiday brunch menu.
Even though we don’t celebrate Christmas, I knew I wanted to do a Christmas cocktail with prosecco for all of you who do, so here it is! Cranberries caught my eye in the store and when paired with the citrus orange juice and sweet prosecco, you really can’t go wrong. I added the vanilla coconut sugar rim, which takes it up a notch!
This morning cocktail isn’t one that needs exact measurements, making it perfect for a DIY mimosa bar at your brunch party! Simply fill 2 pitchers, one with orange juice and one with cranberry juice, place a bowl of the vanilla coconut sugar beside a bowl of orange wedges, place a few fresh cranberries out for topping, and make sure that prosecco is chilled.
Everyone can decide how strong they like each flavor, and the bubbles stay nice and crisp all morning long. The DIY aspect makes it hands-on and so fun for everyone involved.
What Is A Mimosa?
Mimosas are a bubbly drink typically made with a sparkling white wine (champagne, prosecco, etc.) and citrus juice, usually orange juice.
This mimosa with cranberry juice is perfectly bubbly and a fantastic brunch drink. Start your holidays off with this Christmas mimosa!
How To Make A Cranberry Mimosa
If you make breakfast cocktails from time to time, you already know that you can whip up this cranberry mimosa in a couple of minutes. That’s what makes it an ideal Christmas mimosa recipe -you can spend your time working on other things instead.
Take a look at how easy this cranberry mimosa recipe is:
- Make the coconut sugar rim mix. Scrape the seeds from a vanilla bean into a blender, along with coconut sugar. Blitz the vanilla bean and sugar until it’s been combined.
- Add the sugar rim to glass. Rub an orange slice around the rim of the glass. Swirl the glass in coconut sugar until it’s evenly coated.
- Make the cranberry mimosa. Put a few fresh cranberries in the bottom of the glass…
Followed by orange juice…
And then cranberry juice…
Top with Prosecco and enjoy!
Holiday Mimosa Variations
This cranberry orange mimosa is delicious the way it’s written, but don’t be afraid to try out some other holiday mimosa flavors. Here are some ideas:
- Orange Juice – Skip the cranberry and just use orange juice for this Christmas mimosa. It will still be a lovely brunch drink for all your parties.
- Cinnamon Stick – Add a cinnamon stick to stir the holiday mimosa. It looks pretty and adds some spicy goodness to the mimosa with cranberry juice.
- Raspberries – You can trade out the cranberries for raspberries in this holiday Prosecco cocktail. It will give a subtle sweetness that’s amazing.
- Chili Powder – You might love a little heat with your mimosa with cranberry juice! Simply mix some chili powder with the sugar mixture for a sweet heat.
Are Mimosas Only For Brunch?
Technically, most people only drink mimosas at brunch simply because there isn’t a lot of alcohol, and who doesn’t love juice in the morning! This cranberry orange mimosa is great in the morning, but I love it any time of the day.
Can You Make Cranberry Orange Mimosa Ahead?
It’s best if you have all the ingredients for the mimosa with cranberry juice ready and chilled, but don’t actually mix them until they are ready to serve.
If you mix up the holiday mimosa and put it in the fridge, it will flatten and lose a lot of those bubbles. You can still drink the cranberry orange mimosa at that point, but it’s not going to taste as good.
So, I find it’s better to chill the ingredients for the holiday mimosa, then take them all out and mix together when it’s time to drink them. It tastes best this way and really only takes a minute to put together.
